Why join? In the current political climate, the interests of students and educators are at risk as never before. So are the values that we hold dear: disinterested scientific inquiry, collaboration across national boundaries, freedom to research and teach without risk of censorship, and above all, inclusiveness. In this time of crisis, the AAUP is a bulwark against attempts to erode the rights on which these values depend: economic security for all faculty, shared governance, and academic freedom. Since AAUP’s founding more than one hundred years ago, there has been no stronger advocate for the educational mission of universities—a mission on which our society depends. Our strength is in numbers. Now, more than ever, you need the AAUP and it needs you!

CHAPTER DUES

Miami AAUP members support chapter advocacy by paying annual dues, set in 2015 by chapter vote at $20 for tenure-line faculty, $10 for lecturers, and $0 for part-time and visiting faculty. 2018 dues are due on February 1.

Dues are waived for part-time (adjunct) faculty.

Checks for dues may be made out to Miami AAUP Advocacy Chapter and sent to Amber Franklin, Miami AAUP Treasurer, at the following address:

Chapter dues cover costs including advertising and hosting events and speakers, website costs, and printing of chapter information.
